As you might remember, we were looking for a new CEO for Football Supporters Europe earlier in the summer. Out of several interesting applications the FSE Committee chose Ronan Evain to follow Daniela Wurbs from the beginning of November.
Ronan, who has his roots in the active supporters’ movement in France, has worked as an academic and an electoral expert. In 2015 he joined FSE as our project manager for the RESPECT FAN CULTURE – Fans’ Embassies project which he successfully led before and during EURO 2016 in France.
“With Ronan, we found a candidate from within the FSE membership which seems to be essential to us in order to be the new CEO of our organization,” the FSE Committee said at their annual meeting with the Coordinating Office in Hamburg, Germany. “During his time as a project manager for FSE he proved his expertise and skills in working with various interlocutors and partners from all over Europe. Finally, in the interview for this job Ronan drew up a vision and plans which made him the candidate of our choice.”
Ronan Evain was honoured by the decision and stated: “As a long-standing fan activist and FSE member, I am thrilled to continue working for this fantastic organisation to pursue its development. Succeeding Daniela, I know that I have big shoes to fill in. But thanks to the commitment of my colleagues, the Committee and Daniela herself during the transition period, I am more than prepared to take up the challenge.”
While Ronan is starting his new profession, Daniela will enjoy some free time before looking for another position, and we wish her well in all her future endeavours. She was not only the first CEO of Football Supporters Europe, she was an integral part of the original establishment of FSE back in 2007/2008. Her contribution has been essential to our success, and without her we could not have made the progress we have so far. The Committee and staff members of FSE have appreciated her many skills, her courtesy, her charm and her great work ethic.
