The FSE Committee and staff of the FSE Coordinating Office met in Hamburg (Germany) for their annual gathering at the first weekend of November 2016.
As Daniela Wurbs is leaving the organization and Ronan Evain is taking over as our new CEO, the meeting had a singular importance since new strategies for the future of the organisation were discussed.
After the committee was given feedback on the handover period, the overall administration was discussed, budget plans for the next year were adopted, and existing projects were taken to the next level, such as reinforcing relations with the membership, different enquiries on ticketing and security measures and last but not least the European Football Fans’ Congress (#EFFC2017) which will take place from 6 to 9 July 2017 in the Belgian cities of Gent and Lokeren.
The FSE Committee and staff members also took a look on the first ever FSE Summer Network Meeting in Izmir, Turkey. As a follow-up of the meeting hosted by our members from THD and Taraf-Der another conference of Turkish fans, accompanied by international guests from the FSE membership, was held in Istanbul, Turkey in September. Here, further action on the issue of a national Turkish umbrella organization and the implementation of the SLOs were discussed. The FSE Committee decided to support the Turkish supporters and prepared the next steps in this field.
The FSE Committee will, of course, remain committed to provide further assistance and support to all members of FSE in the future, to strengthen their role as football fans and facilitate the dialogue between them, the governing bodies in football and the authorities on all relevant matters.
FSE’s new CEO, Ronan Evain, concluded: ”The FSE staff were pleased to spend two very productive days with our Committee, which will pave the way for our work in the months to come. We will now focus on the implementation of the vision laid by the Committee in Hamburg, doing our utmost to reinforce the representativeness and influence of our organisation.”
