The partners of the European “Queering Football” project will be giving out grants up to 500 Euros to grassroots/fan driven projects against homophobia in football taking place in February 2017.
Background
Homophobia – prejudices and violence against LGBTIQs – is still one of the main and untackled problems in European football. Homophobic chants and physical attacks as well as ignorance and exclusion still happen on a daily basis. With Queering Football – Tackling Homophobia and Promoting Anti-Discrimination around Major Sport Events (2016-2017) the project partners want to raise awareness for a wider recognition of homophobia as a problem and support the creation of an inclusive football and fan culture. Several projects auch as the Euro Pride House during the UEFA EURO 2016 in France and the Football Pride Week in Berlin have already been carried out last year.
Football vs Homophobia Month of Action Grants through Queering Football
To keep on supporting and motivating supporters’ groups, grassroots and clubs in their engagement, every partner will award two groups to take a stand against homophobia. These events will be carried out in the framework of the “Football v Homophobia Month of Action”, which takes place every year in February and was installed by UK-based organisation Football vs Homophobia.
How to apply
If your group is going to organise an event during February 2017 in any EU country we will be able to support you with a grant of up to 500 Euros. The projects which are eligible to funding could be panel-discussions, screenings, choreographies, stickers, football tournaments or others, just use your imagination. If you want to apply, please send an e-mail with a description of your group and the planned activity to: info@fanseurope.org . Deadline for applications is 31 JANUARY 2017.
